6 pillars

The same way a senior CIO organizes their thinking — governance, security, operations, infrastructure, data, and people.

Every quarter

A fresh assessment plan aimed at your lowest-scoring pillars, sequenced by senior judgment. An operating rhythm, not a one-time assessment.

Senior advisory

Your assigned advisor's read alongside the math — the technology questions you'd take to a senior CIO, answered by one.

How it works

Measure. Prioritize. Produce.

Advisra isn't a one-time assessment. It's an operating rhythm — we measure where you stand, prioritize what moves the lowest pillars, and produce the work that closes the gaps.

01

Measure

A complete baseline assessment across all six pillars, on a two-score model — the math score plus your advisor's read. This is your “you are here” map: a current, multi-perspective view of where the organization actually stands, delivered as a board-ready report at the beginning of your subscription and repeated annually.

02

Prioritize

Every quarter, a fresh assessment plan aimed at your lowest-scoring pillars — sequenced by senior judgment, not a self-serve checklist. Between quarters, monthly action plans, alerts, and always-on Q&A keep the priorities current as your environment and the landscape change.

03

Produce

The artifacts that actually close the gaps — governance charters, risk registers, lifecycle plans — so next quarter's number moves. Your portal Action Tracker mirrors the plan digitally; the next report opens with a progress summary. Evidence of value, not a delta we underwrite.

We measure, prioritize, and produce the gap-closing work. The score is the evidence of value — not a number we underwrite.

The six pillars

The six numbers that run your IT — and what moving each one looks like.

Most organizations don't lack technology. They lack a clear, current view of where they stand and what's worth doing about it. Advisra organizes that view across six pillars — the same way a senior CIO organizes their own thinking.

01

Governance and Strategy

How IT decisions get made and tied to the mission.

What moving it looks like

An IT governance charter; disciplined project intake.

Technology decisions made without business alignment turn into expensive rework. This is about who owns technology decisions in your organization, how those decisions are made, how they're tied to business priorities, and how leadership stays informed. When this is strong, technology investment moves the business forward. When it's weak, technology becomes something that happens to the business rather than for it.

02

Security and Risk

Exposure, posture, and compliance readiness.

What moving it looks like

Risk register; incident response plan; policy set.

This covers how your organization protects its technology environment, data, and people — and how it identifies, tracks, and manages technology-related compliance obligations and operational risk. Most organizations conflate compliance with security; the two are related but not the same. This pillar measures both: whether you're protected in practice, and whether you can demonstrate it when regulators, customers, or insurers ask.

03

Operations

How the day-to-day actually runs.

What moving it looks like

Service management discipline; defined SLAs.

Day to day, does technology work for the people who depend on it? This covers service delivery, system reliability, support responsiveness, and the operational discipline that keeps the technology environment running. It also covers business continuity — your organization's ability to maintain operations and recover when something goes wrong. When operations is strong, technology fades into the background. When it's weak, it dominates leadership attention.

04

Infrastructure

The foundation everything sits on.

What moving it looks like

Lifecycle plan; disaster recovery plan.

This is the actual technology environment — networks, cloud, endpoints, applications, integrations. The currency, reliability, and scalability of what you have, and the maturity of how it's managed. Strong infrastructure is invisible to the business; weak infrastructure shows up as cost overruns, downtime, security gaps, and projects that take longer than they should.

05

Data and Information

How data is governed, classified, and trusted.

What moving it looks like

Classification scheme; data governance policy.

Data is increasingly the most valuable asset most organizations have, and the most poorly managed. This covers how your organization collects, organizes, protects, and uses information to inform decisions. It includes data governance, data quality, analytics maturity, and your readiness to evaluate and adopt AI tools effectively. Most organizations have far more data than they're using, and far less control over it than they think.

06

People and Capability

Whether the team can carry the load.

What moving it looks like

Capability map; role and skills planning.

Technology runs on people. This covers the skills, capacity, and retention of the people responsible for your technology environment — whether internal staff, external partners, or both. Strong technology programs are built on stable, capable teams. Weak ones depend on heroics from individuals or constant scrambling for outside help. The gap between the two is one of the most common reasons technology investments don't deliver expected results.

The relationship

Advise, deliver, lead.

There's a path up the ladder when you need more than a plan — stated honestly, never bundled. You always know exactly what you're buying.

Advise

The practice

A method built by someone who has actually been in the room.

Advisra exists because the same problem kept showing up: organizations making consequential technology decisions without anyone qualified at the table. Our method — measure across six pillars, prioritize the lowest, produce the work that closes the gaps — is the answer to that, run by an advisor of record on every account.

The pedigree behind the method is real. Our founder spent 25 years as an enterprise IT executive — Deputy CIO at Columbia University, leading a technology organization of 140+ staff; Assistant Vice Chancellor for Information Technology at UNC Chapel Hill; and a senior technology leader across healthcare, higher education, and government. She holds a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration, plus PMP, Certified Scrum Master, and Six Sigma credentials.

Briefings, Q&A responses, and Health Score Reports are produced by senior practitioners and signed by the advisor assigned to your account. CIO Advisra™ is woman- and minority-owned, serving organizations in the United States, Canada, and internationally.
